Beginner-Intermediate Pastels with Diane Murray - FULL!

Wednesday, November 12 from 10 AM – 3 PM.

Learn steps for painting with soft pastels. This class will cover how to get the most out of your pastel set(s). It will cover techniques for using pastels, such as  mark making, layering, creating an underpainting. It will introduce you to  types of pastels, various papers that work for pastels and many brands available. You will only need whatever pastels you already own. I will have samples of many brands and types available for you to try and ways to work with pastels.  The class will touch on organizing, storing, carrying, and framing  pastels.

Pattern Drawing as a Tool for Meditation with Aleta Akhtar

Wednesday, November 19 from 6 PM - 9 PM. Held during open studio.

Learn methods of guided drawing which helps participants to achieve a focused mental state characteristic of most forms of meditation. I will lead the drawing activity and will teach you how to draw the patterns. No prior experience/lesson is necessary.

Donation of $15 for South Arts is requested at door.

Tole Painting with Jean Benson

Mondays, September 15 to November 24 
1-3 pm. Jean, our oldest member at 106 years young, is happy to share her knowledge and provide assistance. You are welcome to join this fun group for $10 a session.

Sessions Available: 

Friday Morning Open Studio (no registration)
Join us every Friday morning from 10 AM to 2 PM. Open to the public, no charge, however we have a donation box with a suggested donation of $5. Bring your own art supplies and whatever you are working on and join our group. Grab yourself a coffee or tea from Reginald's coffee shop in the building. We help each other, have fun and instruction is available if necessary. Bring a friend and join in the fun!

 

 

Wednesday Evening Figure Drawing Sessions (registration required)

Come and practice your drawing skills with a live model. The model may be nude or in costume.
Figure Drawing Sessions meets every other Wednesday Evenings, 6:30-9 pm. $12 per session.
This is not a class but a drawing session.

Wednesday Evening Open Studio sessions from 6:00-8:30pm (no registration)

Come join us for an open studio where you bring your own supplies. We occasionally have Member Workshops, unlike a class, where a member shares a technique or knowledge with our membership in a casual setting. Quarterly, we will have a clothed model and an artist meet and greet. Suggested donation of $5 for the art league. If you have an idea for a workshop, please contact Cheryl at southartspitt@gmail.com.
