About South Arts Pittsburgh

South Arts Pittsburgh is a 501(c) nonprofit serving the South Hills region since 1984. Our mission is to connect the community through education, cultural outreach, and the joy of making art.

We are a welcoming group of 70+ members—ranging in age from 18 to 100+—from beginner hobbyists to professional artists, all sharing a passion for creativity.

Each week, we host open studio sessions, as well as figure drawing classes and artist demonstrations at the historic Schoolhouse Art & History Center in Bethel Park. Sessions are free to attend, with small suggested donations to support the space and model fees when applicable.

Beyond our weekly gatherings, South Arts promotes local artists through exhibitions at the Schoolhouse and the Galleria Mall, giving members opportunities to showcase their work to the wider community.

The organization is funded, in part, by a generous grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council Chapter.
